This is Day 18: A song you wished you heard on the Radio.
Now to be quite honest, which i tend to be on this blog, I don't want to hear any of my favorite songs on the radio because then everyone will know them, hate them, and eventually Rebecca Black will do a cover on it. But I guess if I had to choose one song it would be:
This was a hard one. I took three quizzes that told me pathetic song choices that had nothing to do about anything except for Indians on crack. After a long listening party with my family, this one.
I apologize for the delay in postage. I have been partying more than i should and neglecting my avid readers. (don't tell me if you didn't even notice I was gone.)
Day eleven asks me to tell you a song from my favorite band.
Now it took me a good few seconds to think this through, but when truth comes to shove- the band FUN. just jumps up at me and screams greatness.
"All the Pretty Girls"
but then listening to this indie fun, i remembered going to the concert of Miniature Tigers with my sister and that makes me think of how I own every single one of their albums. So then i need to post a song from them too:
"Cannibal Queen"
and then when I think of going to concerts with my sister I think of the concert we stayed up for until two am and that my friends is true band commitment. My all time favorite band would have to Scissor Sisters. I love them. And I wish Jake Shears would turn straight for me.
"Something Like This"
Now I believe this post on good bands is complete. Thank you for listening.
Don't forget about those little doo dahs down below where you can comment, but also post on facebook, twitter, email, blog, google buzz, and google +1. Make use of that space my friends. Those buttons wont press themselves.
And then just for shits and giggles, I have to throw in a video (or two) from Michael Franti because I was at his concert on thursday night making it hard for me to stay up to date with this challenge. Therefore that is the reason I am posting this a day late. Oh well. Enjoy Franti :) because I did.
I have spent the day in the hospital waiting for my Father to undergo surgery to repair his broken toes. Good news is that it was successful and he left with two pins in his toe! Check out these X RAYS.
This is his toes before the surgery. Now you cannot tell that the pinky toe is swollen but you can see it is sliced at the bone. But the big toe, now that you can tell is separated.
Then they fixed it with nails.
The 30 Day Song Challenge: Day Number Nine: Something you can dance too!
Now I can dance to pretty much anything with a beat, but whenever this song comes on, I have to get up and shake it like a Polaroid picture.
It would be easier to tell you the songs I do not know the words to.
Day 8: A Song I know All the Words Too:
Shake Your Pom Pom: Missy Elliot
That is just to name one. And believe me, you would be surprised to know how well me and my sister can whip this out of the top of our heads. Just call me Missy Audiot.
Day Seven is a song that reminds you of a certain event.
Now let me paint you the picture. I do not remember how old I was at this moment but it was my cousin Kellie's wedding week. Danielle (my other cousin,) Gabrielle (my sister,) and I had just gone to lunch at the mall after getting pedicures. Danielle was driving, I was in the front seat, and she said "Have you girls heard of Mika?" This was back in the day before music became my life, but I had recently heard "Grace Kelly" by Mika, at my friend Lauren's dance performance. Anyways, she put on the song "Big Girls (You are Beautiful.)" We danced and sung along to it over and over again until I knew every single lyric. Every time I hear that song, or Mika in general, I think about how fun that car ride was and how one day the three of us will go to a Mika concert together. It is bound to happen.
(Photograph of the three of us at the wedding. From left to right: Me, Danielle, & Gabrielle)
So after that long introduction, I am proud to present "Big Girl" by the one and only fabulous Mika.
Happy Music Monday also! I started doing music mondays a while ago but then fell out of it. But today I have a special song for you. This is for you people who like a little electronic/dance mix.
Sugarhouse Coffee Company is about a seven minute drive from my house. I went there almost every single night during the summer before Junior year to hang out with Joe, Ryan, Patrick, Matt, Jake, Ian, and who ever else decided to join us. I would listen to this song over and over again on my way there and on my way back. I had just learned to drive and would feel so cool. Good memories at the old SugarHo.
New In Town: Little Boots
Also, for you who didn't notice, last night I installed a new little doo dah thing below each post. Now you can share a post on facebook, twitter, and whatever else those little icons connect too. Sharing made easy!
Good morning. Today I am writing this from my deck. I am sweaty and sticky and gross from the gym. I worked out to the entire album of Nicki Minaj. Anyways.. day three of this Song Challenge is:
A Song That Makes You Happy: "Touches You" by Mika
Now Mika is my all time favorite artist ever. No lie. I know all of his songs and have this dream of going to his concert. But this song is just a feel good, always makes you smile, always makes you dance around, always makes you sing the words out at the top of your lungs, kind of song.
"You Found Me" by The Fray. Actually, to be quite honest, I really do not like anything by the Fray. I agree- his voice is sexy, but their stuff is so whiney and it all sounds the same to me. I have nothing against those who like this.. but it is one of my least favorite groups/songs ever.
Being the technology social butterflies you all are, you have probably heard about the 30 Day Song Challenge on Facebook. I just discovered it a few nights ago and I want to be apart of the madness, but I find it cluttering to have all that random crap posted by you on your own profile. (Im too neat and organized for facebook and it's embarrassing.) I have decided to bring the 30 Day Song Challenge to my blog. This way I can share my love for music while writing complete paragraph analysis and not cluttering up my profile. Win. Win. Win. So here we go!
Day One: Your Favorite Song
One of my favorite songs is easily "Who will save your soul" by Jewel. I remember listening to this song driving to Bear Lake when I was little. Now I know every lyric and sing it at the top of my lungs all the time (mostly when no one else is home.)
Now i know there is a recent curiosity rushing through your mind right now, because you have probably noticed that my bio has changed and it no longer says that I haven't been kissed.
I am here to tell you that nothing has changed except for the words on the left side panel.
I am still very much wearing virgin lips on my face. I just decided that after you pointed out the truth it exposes and how people must be waiting to see when it disappeared that I better not share my frailty with the world of the web. (Even though I am doing that now.)
So I close this post with reassurance that I still haven't been kissed and you will still be the first to know.
Two weeks in Italia felt like home to me. Traveling from Rome, Castiligone Del Lago, Florence, Cinque Terre, San Gimignano, and Orbetello- gave me a wide range of laughs, art, culture, and good food. Here are a few shots from my adventures.
