do you think "everything is wrong? I mean EVERYTHING"
"By "everything is wrong" I mean EVERYTHING. I look around me - I'm typing on a plastic and metal and glass computer perched on a desk made from cut down trees and toxic paint. I sit in a building made of wood and bricks that were taken from the earth on a street made of poisonous asphalt that was laid over an ecosystem that had thrived for hundreds of thousands of years. I'm clothed in cotton that was saturated with pesticides while it grew and treated and dyed with toxic chemicals while it was being processed. All of my possessions were made hundreds or thousands of miles away and shipped in styrofoam and plastic wrap via gas burning engines and destructive road and air ways to me. My food, although organically grown and completely vegan, is shipped from where it was grown to my local store and is often packaged in paper, plastic, metal, and toxic inks. I know tons of people that eat meat, smoke cigarettes, drive cars, use drugs, etc., even though they know that these things will ultimately hurt the quality (and length) of their lives. I live in an apartment building where no one is on a first name basis. I know more about idiot actors in hollywood that I've never met than I do about the woman who lives next door to me (and is probably more interesting). While walking to work I inhale toxic exhaust from cars sitting in traffic. To make sure that eating 3 cans of oven cleaner will make you sick, or to make sure that pouring nail polish remover into your eyes will hurt you, we torture mice, rabbits, dogs, cats, etc. We use toxic chlorine bleach to keep our underpants white. We cut down the rainforests to drill for oil so that we can drive to the video store. Do you see what I mean? Everything really is wrong. Even the back to nature people still drive cars and use products made from materials ripped out of the earth. People struggle all of their lives doing work that they hate just to be a functioning member of a system that is wasteful, destructive and unhealthy.
What I advocate is this a sensible, pragmatic, and non-destructive approach towards existence, we need to re-evaluate our practices. Just as it doesn't make sense to hire an elevator operator to run an automatic elevator it doesn't make sense for billions of people to drive to work alone in their cars. It doesn't make sense to consume animal products. It doesn't make sense to use pesticides on agricultural products. It doesn't make sense to derive power from nuclear, coal, and petroleum when we have solar, hydro, and wind power. It doesn't make sense to maintain destructive systems just because people earn their livings from them. It doesn't make sense to pour billions of tons of toxic chemicals onto our lawns so that they'll look pretty and green"

'everyone deserves music.'- Michael Franti
So dance to the rhythm
Bounce to the rhythm
Shake to the rhythm
And you roll to the rhythm
Sweat to the rhythm
Get wet to the rhythm
Make love to the rhythm
Clean up to the rhythm
When you movin'
You come alive
And when ya grooving
In rhythm we survive, so
Don't panic, don't panic
No drum machine
This is all organic

TwinSister
Now I went to the weekly Twilight Concert on Thursday overly excited to hear one of my favorite artists TwinSister. But I was so surprised at the amount of people who have no idea who it was. So I am here to educate you. Enjoy.
They are a young band from New York. They have five members.
Egg's Big Day (silent) from Twin Sister on Vimeo.
This is a video they made, just to get you familiar with the band. And then below is one of their songs.

I just had to get this off my chest.
You know what’s pretty annoying?
People who can’t take their sunglasses off indoors. It’s just like when people let their cracks slip out of their pants–you know that there’s an awareness of it –and they just don’t care.
But really, the whole sunglasses indoors thing, I think being too lazy to take off your sunglasses when you walk indoors could make you lazier than someone who can’t drink a beverage without a straw.
Whatever the reason is for people’s not taking sunglasses off when indoors (after noticing that it’s no longer bright enough to warrant sunglasses), it’s idiotic.
Oh, yeah, and somehow gold teeth are popular too?
I mean they were all over the Twilight concert on Thursday. I’m not feeling the gold tooth action.
Were you aware that gold is one of the best metals for conducting temperature? That’s not a good thing when it comes to your teeth. Temperature being conducted in your teeth means more pain. Why put your mouth through that?
You could be electrocuted by lightning.
Goodnight.

guys in skinny jeans: a recent observation
Skinny jeans are everywhere, yes i did say everywhere, (and clearly are unisex,) but are they really good for guys? Skinny jeans highlight the features that are normally concealed by the looser fitting, or even baggy, clothes that guys are typically inclined to wear.
(Unless, of course, they are hipster guys. Then of course they were whatever they damn well please. However, it’s not a fact that all hipsters rock skinny jeans. It doesn’t make you any more “scene,” or more of a hipster to wear skinny jeans, really.)
It’s probably common knowledge now to say that skinny jeans are a trendy fashion need some boys feel like they need, but we can’t escape the question:
are they worth the drop in comfort?
Because man oh man do they look uncomfortable and sometimes force us to wonder
how in the hell you fit your legs down into them..
How can the above pic be comfortable?
Do you realize that if that dude broke one of those skinny legs, the paramedics would have to bust out some scissors and literally cut the pant leg of the injured limb open?
That’s right, they don’t have time to sit around and wait for you to try and wriggle out of your skinny jeans, and if you have a break that’s bad enough it’s probably a terrible idea to wriggle around a broken bone.
So guess what they do?
they skip all that noise and go straight for the scissors.
So, maybe the only pants they wouldn’t have to cut open to access your broken leg would be baggy pants. So this means that we conclude that
baggy pants are the only decent pants to break your legs in.
Oh It’s also common knowledge that boys have penises and girls have vaginas, so then, clearly skinny jeans are more comfortable for women: so long as they can fit into a pair properly, right? Then again, you don’t have to be model skinny to rock some skinny jeans, and you can still get the same effect.
I do not want to give the impression that skinny jeans are bad.. some guys do look good in them. You just have to pull it all off.
(skinny jeans, converse, tee shirts and blazer jacket with ray bans...)
Here are some thought about boys and skinny jeans:
Kyle: ”I dont like Tight Skinny Jeans on guys. I guess it gives them a emo look kinda...
I am not really in to the emo stuff…..
i guess kinda skinny jeans are ok and on girls there great haha”
Katie: “not a fan. mostly because i don't like when they look better in skinny jeans than i do”
Jeffery: “not that comfy. like super skinny. but i dont like super baggy either”
Allie: “some guys can pull it off and if they can, its attractive”
Eric: “if there tooo tight they deserve a kick to the balls to make sure they are still a guy.”
Grace: “well im all for the urban prepster man….so im into the skinny jean”
Titus: “guys in skinny jeans are whack, wear clothes that fit.
skinny jeans are for females boys.”
Sarah: "I think if they can pull it off its hot"
Joe: "i can sort of pull it off but ya when they are way skinny it gets weird."
So now it is your turn… skinny jeans.. are they for guys and ladies?
Or should the
boys
stay out
of the tight
denim?

Jelly Shoes
Slap Bracelets
Friendship Bracelets
Stick On Earrings
jelly bands
mood rings
those were the days.... and now there are these animal bands or whatever they are called. Who really wants rubber bands on their wrists?

big cities are a photographer's playground
I look to my right and there is a window, outside the window is a tan bricked office building stretching ten floors up. People are pacing in their cubicles, putting hands to their heads and arguing in stress. A women just pulled her skirt up and fixed her tights- thinking no one could see her with her door shut, obviously she forgot me.
The girl sitting in a hotel room across the street.
To my left there is a camera and my black Converse- thrown carelessly on the floor after a walking day. Gabrielle sits on her bed in her pajama pants texting boys. My father is snoring into a deep sleep behind me on the opposite white sheeted bed.
I sit here next to the only window.
My body turned so see the world outside. I watch curiously below- like a princess locked in a tower wondering what the outside world has to share. My neck is sore and I long for a massage to ease it's discomfort. I am downloading pictures onto my computer from my adventure in Portland. My sock is half way off as i wiggle my toes on the purple striped carpet. I slide down into my chair as I think about what other moments i could describe to you as you skim through the text on the screen.
Four events into the Concrete Rodeo. It is Day Five of my trip. Tomorrow will be Newberg- a large park with endless concrete and hopefully an even larger amount of entrees. Here are the best and worsts of each event so far:
